the fact of the matter is... I am posting this because of nothing other than consistency T__T it all feels so distant, end of year was trash etc. etc. let's not talk about it ya girl just wanted to get this out of the way so I could post the yearly media wrap-up. also keep in mind every single comment here was written at the time of watching aka circa 2 months ago
the crown s5 season was so mid T__T icb I chose to watch this over young royals skdjs i mean mostly because I watch it with my mom but she fell asleep every other episode and With Reason !!!!! where is the drama?!?? the tension ?!?!! it was all just so bland… even the scenes that were supposed to be exciting just fell so short.. not to mention the casting TT charles looked nothing like the actual charles and while the actress for diana does look like her I really didn't like the way she portrayed her.. like the "three in this marriage" scene was just so bad… and the way she acted was just like the opposite of how diana was irl I really hated it oh my god the only entertaining episodes this season were the one where they introduce the al fayeds and the one about the romanovs. even the pacing for all the other episodes was off my disappointment is immeasurable. i feel like they stepped their game up a little with the shots this season but even then the editing was terrible in some scenes not even that could be saved f
500 days of summer kind of felt like a soft manic pixie dream girl movie and like the shots were so good, the concept, the structure and the editing + the narration and those little black and white "offs" were just soooooo good but the story itself was kind of ????? for me just because I thought summer was so whatever T__T they tried to really push the "she's not like other girls" but kind of missed the mark with it so it wasn't even entertaining, it really ruined the vibes for me. and tom also kinda sucked, since the movie was in his perspective I guess I could see his side more?? but he was still such a hypocrite about his relationship with her. they were just both so bad and I know that was kind of the point but they didn’t know how to make it fun toxic!! it was just toxic toxic To Me. and I'd heard really good things about this so it was such a bummer. it wasn't even BAD just not as good as I was expecting or like I wanted to believe it would be at the beginning
I really thought enola holmes 2 would be one of those sequel syndrome movies where it really fucking sucks but surprisingly I enjoyed this a lot??? it did have its moments after all this is Still trash film and it is Still sherlock visual media but it was sooooooooo enjoyable lord tewksbury is so babygirl it hurts and sherlock is so useless man in this it was incredible. I loved the way they introduced moriarty in this film and like humanized sherlock a bit I guess, that’s not very sherlock in itself (guy who had a sherlock phase and read almost every book in elementary school) but it’s still a very fun and fresh take on him and the family as a whole. and the whole mind palace way of problem solving is still as funny and intriguing as ever so points for that. I do hope they make a third film with more family dynamics and MORE TEWKSBURY
and then falling for christmas was the first bad christmas movie of the season!! and as far as trashy, predictable christmas movies goes this one was actually pretty fun LMAO as trope-ridden and terrible as it always is, it was one of the entertaining ones and I LOVED watching lindsay lohan on screen again, truly made the movie for me as well she's so good and so gorgeous, it made me really happy <3
and then guillermo del toro's pinocchio... what the fuck T_____T this movie wasn't even that good and it STILL made me cry like a little bitch. to be fair I never really liked the original pinocchio either, I've always found the whole middle but just way too boring TT and it's exactly what I found boring here too, though the beginning and the end were really good to me. I liked the depth they added to the story with the historically accurate background and showing geppeto's actual child, etc. but they lost me at the circus monkeys and the whole actual justification as to why pinocchio is alive, I really would've just preferred it if they left it unexplained rather and just introduce the magic sisters, it was very boring and not at all intriguing to me…. that said they really capitalized on my fucking emotions with all those deaths and I AM a weak bitch so yeah I cried.. and it was the best part of the movie… aside from the animation that was absolutely gorgeous and eye-catching. the songs were okay too… I'm not a musical hater but in this case the movie could've done without it too tbh
arguabky what I was most excited to watch about out of everything that came out during nov/dec was the dragon prince so tell me why did the show start to pick up on episode 7 OUT OF 9 T__T I was looking forward to this so much and the whole season just turned out to be extremely BORING wth… I was seriously so disappointed :( only the last few episodes were worth it. also changing the audience rating was the worst decision they could've possibly taken like,, it just didn't add anything to the show. if anything, them trying to make it more "mature" just sunk them deeper because it was simply Not well done, it just looked goofy and cringey and like they were trying too hard to raise the rating. and the usually stupid but entertaining humor was very, very hit or miss this season with more misses and hits in their favor TT I caught all the avatar references this season but U WILL NEVER BE ATLA I am unreasonably salty about this the only thing worth it was terry <3 and when rayla and callum got their shit together at the very end.
moving on... I promise I'm not a royal fan Like That I'm just nosey…. so obviously I had to watch the harry & meghan docu.. anyway I wouldn't say this is a well-done documentary because I definitely have issues with the editing and the style they chose for this, among other things, but it definitely shed a very clear light on their reasons for leaving and tbh they had every right to, I've always been #teammeghan like if she chose to marry into the royal family it's so obvious she wouldn't just leave like that over a whim or whatever. not to sympathize with the savior complex-ridden redhead colonizer but after everything he went through with his mom and just how awful the whole family is I'm kinda glad he's out of that place now. anyway interesting way to see exactly what happened and won over my mom into being a meghan lover as well so it's all wins around here
on the topic of docus I also watched sean eternos: campeones de américa and like this wasn't as much a docu about the argentinian selection as it was about messi…. I'm not mad about it tho T__T it was well done (not to say REALLY well done because I did have my bones to pick with it mainly the TITLE CARDS) especially for people who know nothing about football (me). it would've been fun if they'd gone into a more in-depth analysis of each game but for people who are just getting started and really just love the team and the "emotional" aspect of the game (me) it's perfect. you can really see just how much they love each other and how them as people influence and inspire each other to keep going and to keep the desire to win like I get sports anime now because it's all really beautiful like not to get all fifa about it but it really is a very pretty sport bc to see all these players, especially brazilian players and ESPECIALLY neymar who played the copa america final against messi still be happy and excited for him bc they knew he deserved the cup and needed the win to keep his motivation.. it was so beautiful to me. and I don't really like neymar but he said something worth noting to me "if you lose against a friend then nothing's wrong" like isn't that so beautiful and sportsmanship<3 I'm fr gonna enter my sports girly era after this bc tell me how I even CRIED when they started talking about their families and the sacrifices they went and put them through so they could get their dreams and how much their support meant to them T__T what a docu and what a team fr I really fell in love with every single player like they're all so wonderful icb I'm saying this abt argentinians but they really got my heart during the world cup I saw such a strong team with them and they also really got me individually ESPECIALLY DIBU WHAT A FUCKING MAN. the only person I wish we could've seen was juli alvarez < / 3 but he still has much to play I hope we can see a lot more of him in the future
also finished spy x family s1 pt. 2 what a good end to the season T__T how can an anime be so perfect seriously it makes me so happy every time I see it!! she's perfect!! we luv domestic fluff around here..I'm guessing they're gonna start adding more of the spy/war element just bc of where it left off in the last episode but I hope we don't lose any of the cute family goodness it heals my soul every time fr
then klaus.. who would've thought santa origin lore would make me cry. definitely not me but here we are many tears later TT I've been meaning to watch this since it came out [checks watch] three years ago but we'll u know how it is life gets in the way etc. but now that I finally had the chance to watch I loved it sooooo much, it was such a beautiful movie with incredibly pretty animation, a really nice soundtrack and just such a sweet story it had me hooked from the very beginning seriously T__T I even started dreading the climax with how much I was enjoying all the cuteness. and the story progression just feels so nice and natural the story feels exactly the right length even though it's shorter than most movies today (and we are thankful for that btw). I really recommend a christmas day watch bc I really wasn't feeling the holiday spirit until I watched this
and then when I watched gentlemen prefer blondes I was with some friends and originally we were going to watch another movie but I'm so glad we watched this one instead TT it was such a good movie to end the year on, so fun and well thought out, well paced and just absolutely ICONIC every time a famous scene popped up I got so excited to see it in context and it was truly perfectly well executed. marilyn monroe's charm is unreal and her presence itself is what made the movie so perfect to watch and enjoy. it really made me want to see many more movies with her in them
once again only read for school.. but at least the plays this time around were fun enough. once again, a ranking:

I finally had a chance to watch this and the way they edited out garam is literally insane, better than little mix stans editing jesy nelson out of their mvs and that's saying a lot T__T moving on to the actual content of said docu, I'm surprised with how much they actually showed, I didn't think they would really glamorize anything either but down to the hybe execs being assholes??? I was impressed. it really was a great way of showcasing the members struggles and how much they had to work and sacrifice to get to the debut stage only, I think often people forget just how much goes into just getting that first song out. it was also just really fun to follow along with the process, even despite the struggles, and watch the girls become closer (guy who loves found family). I wish them all the success in the world, they're really wonderful and they're doing great
the only other thing I watched during nov/dec was really just an indiscriminate amount of football.. like it was actually gross how into it I got damn you world cup... and a whole lot of britney for an eval. ya girl watched every single baby one more time perf out there T__T
